Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Firmware Engineering Intern in Ohio to assist with embedded firmware development, simulation, and testing for UPS systems. You will model power converters and control loops in MATLAB/Simulink and help implement algorithms on DSPs or microcontrollers.

Ideal candidates are pursuing a Master’s or PhD in EE/CE/Controls with experience in DSP, power electronics, and real-time embedded systems. Collaboration across firmware, hardware, and test teams is expected.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Control Systems, Power Electronics, or a related field.
• Coursework or project experience in control systems, DSP, embedded systems, or power electronics.
• Experience with MATLAB or Simulink, and basic programming in C or C++.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and testing of embedded firmware for UPS power conversion systems.
• Model and simulate power converters and control systems using MATLAB and Simulink.
• Assist with the implementation of digital control algorithms on DSPs or microcontrollers.
• Support Model-in-the-Loop, Software-in-the-Loop, and Hardware-in-the-Loop testing activities.
• Develop and execute test cases to evaluate control performance, firmware behavior, and fault conditions.
• Document simulation results, test data, and technical findings.
