ASSA ABLOY in Berlin, CT is seeking an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer II to join our AWL team onsite. You will develop embedded firmware for BLE, Zigbee, and WiFi, collaborating with hardware and firmware teams to shape next‑gen smart lock solutions.

The role requires 3+ years in embedded C, RTOS proficiency, and experience with I2C/SPI/UART, as well as strong code optimization and power-management skills. This is a full‑time onsite position in Berlin, CT.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of embedded development using C.
• Proficiency with C, RTOS, Git, Jira.
• Experience with I2C, SPI, UART and related protocols.
• Optimizations for code size, speed, memory, power management.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded firmware for BLE, Zigbee, WiFi and other network tech.
• Collaborate with internal/contract firmware teams on design and architecture.
• Write and debug code; create automated unit tests; review code and optimize performance.
• Work with hardware team during design, development and integration.
• Participate in code reviews, unit tests, and feature integration within a scrum team.

This is an engaging and challenging opportunity that plays an intricate role in shaping the development of our new product. We are looking for a passionate Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer who wants to live on the edge of technologies that bring software and hardware together, within the connected home.

This position will report directly to the Firmware Team Lead full-time onsite in Berlin, CT. We are seeking an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to support our efforts in building world-class mobile solutions for our direct-to-consumer products, as well as our business partners.

What you will be doing

• As an embedded software/firmware developer you will be working on next-generation Digital door Lock products developing embedded firmware applications in BLE, Zigbee, WiFi, and other network technologies
• You will work with internal and/or contract firmware developers and architects involved in design and system architecture discussions, hardware analysis, and application design
• Programming and debugging the code, writing automated unit test scripts on features developed/integrated, working with co-developers in code review, code optimization, power management, etc
• Collaborate with the hardware team during design, development, and integration
• Participate in code review process, unit testing, feature integration work, and assist team workers with best coding techniques in building best embedded firmware applications
• Work within a scrum team to collaborate on design

What we are looking for

• BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field of study.
• 3+ years of embedded development experience using C language.
• Must be proficient with C, RTOS, Git, and Jira
• Experience in design, development, and testing complex, multi-threaded embedded IoT applications, and communication protocols via I2c, SPI, UART, and others
• Specializing in optimizations for code size, execution speed, memory usage, task scheduler and interrupt controlling, exception handling, and power management .

What we offer

This position will be performed onsite Monday through Friday at our Berlin, CT office.

The annual salary for this role is $95,000-119,000.

The final pay rate offered to the successful candidate will depend on experience, skill level, and other qualifications for the role. Benefits and additional compensation offered for this position are
