Job summary

Lenovo is seeking an early-career firmware engineer to join the Server BMC initiative within ISG. You will design, develop, test, and document the BMC stack, working closely with firmware engineers on low-level software that interacts with server hardware.

You will gain hands-on experience with C/C++ firmware for Lenovo Server BMCs, plus collaboration in agile processes, code reviews, and Linux-based environments. This role offers growth in a global technology company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field (CS/Engineering) with 2027 December or earlier graduation.
• Experience with C and/or C++ programming.
• Experience with embedded systems, firmware, or other low-level software close to hardware.
• Experience working with Linux.
• 1+ years of hands-on firmware development or related academic/project experience.
• Knowledge of Git workflows, forking, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Knowledge of software development processes and Agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and evaluate trade-offs.
• Python and/or SQL experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Firmware Development: Develop, maintain, test, and debug firmware for Lenovo Server BMC solutions using C/C++.
• Embedded Systems: Work with embedded systems and low-level software close to server hardware.
• BMC Development: Support design, development, testing, debugging, and documentation of the BMC stack for Lenovo servers.
• Testing Debugging: Analyze firmware behavior, troubleshoot issues, and apply debugging methodologies.
• Engineering Collaboration: Participate in planning calls, discussions, code reviews, and status meetings.
• Version Control: Use Git workflows, including forking, PRs, and code reviews.
• Problem Solving: Analyze technical problems and evaluate alternative approaches.
• Independent Execution: Manage priorities and trade-offs while contributing to team goals.
