Job summary

Smith Arnold Partners is seeking a Firmware QA Engineer to join a long-established engineering organization focused on cutting-edge embedded technology. You will develop automated firmware tests and build HIL testing frameworks to ensure high-quality hardware-software integration.

You will collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to troubleshoot issues, own test automation, and drive improvements across product development.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience in firmware QA, embedded systems testing, or a related engineering role.
• Strong Python scripting and test automation skills.
• Experience with Robot Framework, PyTest, or similar testing tools.
• Understanding of embedded firmware and hardware/software integration.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other electronic test equipment.
• Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket, and CI/CD environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience with HIL testing, CAN, USB, UART, SPI, Ethernet, or Jira would be a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop automated firmware tests using Python, Robot Framework, and similar tools.
• Design and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing frameworks for embedded systems.
• Work closely with firmware and hardware engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve product quality.
• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Git and Bitbucket.
• Use oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and other electronic test equipment to validate hardware and firmware.
• Help improve test automation processes and contribute to new product development.

Salary: $90,000 – $120,000 +Bonus
