Job summary

ManpowerGroup Global, Inc. in Austin, TX seeks a Firmware Engineer to develop and debug BMC firmware in an OpenBMC environment.

You will coordinate with architects, BIOS teams, vendors, and QA to deliver robust firmware solutions and participate in product bring-up and upstreaming to OpenBMC. Ideal candidates have 3–4 years of embedded firmware experience, strong systems background, and proficiency in C/C++, Shell, Python, and JavaScript, with knowledge of I2C/I3C/SPI/JTAG and Redfish/PLDM/MCTP.

Responsibilities

As a Firmware Engineer, you will be part of the Software Development Department supporting the Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) team. • Develop and debug firmware for Baseboard Management Controllers (BMC) within an OpenBMC environment
• Coordinate with architects, BIOS developers, vendors, and quality assurance teams to deliver robust firmware solutions
• Participate in new product bring-up, troubleshooting, and triage activities to ensure seamless deployment
• Contribute to upstreaming work to the open-source OpenBMC community
• Employ solid software methodologies and manageability design expertise to ensure defect-free, on-schedule firmware releases

What's Needed?

• Minimum of 3-4 years of embedded firmware development experience
• Strong background in systems engineering and computer systems
• Experience with BMC firmware development, especially with platforms like Dell iDRAC, HP iLO, or similar
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Shell Scripting, Python, and JavaScript
• Knowledge of low-level protocols including I2C, I3C, SPI, JTAG, and familiarity with industry standards like Redfish, PLDM, and MCTP
