Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in Charlotte, NC seeks a Firmware/Embedded Software Engineer to design, implement, and test systems interfacing with hardware.

You’ll collaborate with Hardware Engineers and Mentor Associate Engineers while following SEL values and manufacturing principles. Responsibilities include maintaining designs and tests, applying real-time firmware techniques in C/C++, and developing GUI tools in Windows (C#/OO).

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Typically 2+ years in embedded systems firmware development incl. real-time firmware, C/C++, and assembly.
• Windows GUI apps development with OO design in C++/C#.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test firmware/software systems.
• Mentor Associate Engineers and Technicians.
• Collaborate with Hardware Engineers.
• Prepare and maintain designs and test documentation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Participate in the design, implementation, and test of firmware/software systems. Understand hardware and software interactions and collaborate with Hardware Engineers. Prepare and maintain designs and test documentation. Mentor Associate Engineers and Technicians. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
• Typically, 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Embedded systems firmware development including: Real-time, firmware design, C and assembly languages, C++ Graphical User Interface applications in Windows environments including: Object oriented design, Object oriented languages (C++, C#) Test development including: Python and Perl, Other scripting languages
