Job summary

Advanced Energy seeks Firmware/Software Design Engineering Interns and Co-Ops to support development across North American design sites. Interns will work with an experienced engineering team at AE sites in Colorado, Minnesota, Massachusetts, or California, contributing to high-performance, efficient power conversion, metrology, or controls solutions.

Only post-graduate students will be considered for summer and school-year internships. Ideal candidates are pursuing degrees at UC, CSU, Univ.

Qualifications

Ability to work in a lab environment debugging circuits and evaluating product spec compliance using oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, logic analyzers, and firmware interface tools.
Proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based design and analysis tools; MS Office experience.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to meet schedule requirements and set priorities without direct supervision.

Responsibilities

Participate in a core team to meet schedule, cost, and customer satisfaction goals.
Assist in development, testing, and debugging of prototype power supply units.
Analyze test data against functional and performance specifications.
Interface with internal departments to meet cost and schedule goals.
Circuit design of analog and digital circuits, EMI filters, and power circuits.
Develop and implement control algorithms.
Design and analyze magnetic components.
Model and simulate devices, circuits or systems using appropriate tools.
