RectorSeal Fire Test Lab in Houston, TX is seeking a motivated Firestop Technician Installer to join our team. This hands-on role focuses on constructing and installing firestop systems that support endurance testing, contributing to safer building products. The position involves collaboration with engineers, performing measurements, using hand and power tools, and adhering to UL standards and lab procedures.

Workdays run 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Experience reading tape measures, technical drawings, and life safety schematics.
• Basic computer skills for documentation (Word, Outlook).
• Ability to lift 25–50 pounds regularly.
• Construction, carpentry, drywall, or insulation installation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Install firestop assemblies according to test plans, UL standards, and life safety drawings.
• Accurately measure, cut, and assemble materials using hand and power tools.
• Set up and break down test frames and fire-rated assemblies.
• Maintain clear and accurate documentation for each test setup.
• Collaborate with lab engineers to evaluate and improve firestop systems.
• Conduct research using the UL directory and industry libraries.
• Follow all lab procedures and safety protocols.
