Job summary

General Dynamics - IT (GDIT) seeks a Senior Fires Systems Engineer to advance our enterprise IT capabilities. You will install, configure, test, and maintain AFATDS systems, while mentoring artillery operators and supporting Canadian Army exercises.

Ideal candidates hold a BA/BS, 5+ years of relevant experience, and active Secret clearance, with fluency in English and French. Expect on-site work in Chantilly, VA, and opportunities for growth within a military-friendly team.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree required.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
• Fluently bilingual in English and French.
• Active Secret Clearance.
• CompTIA Security+ CE certification.
• Valid U.S. Passport with at least 2 years remaining.
• Prior military experience desirable.
• Windows 10/Windows Server 2012 administration.
• Basic networking fundamentals.
• VMware vSphere 6.5.
• Expert AFATDS knowledge and interfaces.
• Familiarity with JADOCS, JTIC2S, JTT, JTT-CP, MIDB, MARS, GCCS-J.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, and maintain AFATDS operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Initialize, configure, and troubleshoot software interfaces.
• Manage and monitor all installed systems, networks, and infrastructure for optimal performance.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and resilience of system and network infrastructure.
• Monitor and evaluate application performance, identify bottlenecks, propose solutions, and collaborate with developers to implement fixes.
• Maintain system security, backup procedures, and redundancy strategies.
• Participate in the design and enhancement of information and operational support systems.
• Prepare weekly and bi-weekly technical and operational reports.
• Provide over-the-shoulder training and mentorship to artillery operators.
• Assist Canadian Army Artillery units in planning and executing simulated and live-fire unit/formation-level exercises.
• Apply advanced knowledge of AFATDS hardware, components, and operational procedures.
• Assist the Joint Fires Modernization PMO with system acceptance, testing, management of interfaces, on-site and remote support.

Install, configure, test, and maintain AFATDS operating systems, application software, and system management tools.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

• BA/BS degree.
