Job summary

The City of Bethel is seeking a Firefighter/Training and Compliance Specialist, a certified firefighter responsible for oversight of fire division training and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations. The Firefighter/Specialist plans, coordinates, and delivers fire services training for employees and volunteers.

The position requires State of Alaska Firefighter II, Fire Instructor II, and Fire Officer I certifications, with experience serving rural or remote communities

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Five years of progressively responsible fire services experience.
• Three years’ demonstrated experience as a fire service trainer.
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Experience serving rural or remote communities is preferred.
• Experience working with a combined (employee and volunteer) department is preferred.
