Job summary

CITY OF ALABASTER is seeking dedicated firefighters to join its professional fire team. Starting pay is based on a 2,704-hour schedule: Fire Recruit $18.74/hr, Firefighter $20.67/hr, Firefighter–Paramedic $22.78/hr, with experience-based pay for certified firefighters.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license.
• Obtain and maintain certification as a Firefighter I and II within one year of employment.
• Obtain and maintain an Alabama EMT-Paramedic license within three years of employment.

Responsibilities

• A written examination administered by the City of Alabaster Human Resources Department.
• A physical abilities test administered by the Alabaster Fire Department.
• A panel interview with representatives of the Alabaster Fire Department and Human Resources.
