Job summary

The Village of Los Lunas Fire Department is seeking a Firefighter/Paramedic to deliver emergency and non-emergency services with paramedic-level EMS and firefighting skills. This role requires advanced medical care, equipment operation, and active community engagement.

Responsibilities include responding to calls, administering ALS, operating medical devices, fire suppression, rescue, public education, and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• EMT-P certification required for paramedic duties.
• BLS CPR certification for basic life support.
• Valid Class E driver's license is required.
• Must pass background check and departmental requirements.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to emergency calls including fires, medical emergencies, accidents, and other incidents.
• Administer advanced life support (ALS) care to patients and initiate treatment protocols.
• Operate advanced medical equipment such as cardiac monitors, defibrillators, IV equipment, and airway devices.
• Provide compassionate care and transport patients to medical facilities.
• Engage in fire suppression, search and rescue, and public safety education.
• Perform data entry related to incident reports and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain firefighting equipment, vehicles, and medical supplies; follow safety protocols.
• Participate in training, drills, and continuing education; collaborate with team.

Education

High school diploma or GED certificate

Some college / post-secondary education (less than a Bachelor's degree)

EMT-Paramedic (EMT-P) certification/licensure

Valid BLS CPR card

Current Class E Driver's License

Haz-Mat Awareness/Operations certification (40-hour)

Fire Apparatus Driver Operator EVD certification (24-hour)

Technical Rescuer: Vehicle & Machinery I certification (32-hour)

Firefighter I/II Combo certification (120-hour)

S130/190 Wildland Fire Behavior certification (8-hour)
