Job summary

City of Farmers Branch is seeking a task-level firefighter and paramedic to support the Fire Department’s EMS and fire suppression services. You will perform equipment checks, engage in firefighting and rescue operations as directed, and deliver excellent public service.

You must possess Texas firefighter and Paramedic certifications, pass agility and medical exams, and undergo a detailed background check. A Class C license is required, with potential for Class B within 12 months.

Qualifications

• Team oriented with ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and the public.
• Must read, speak, and understand English; color distinction.
• Exposure to dust, flames and smoke; heavy physical effort (over 100 lbs).
• Must pass agility, medical, and background investigations; random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain familiarity with Fire Department policies and procedures.
• Conduct daily, periodic, and post-use equipment checks and document them.
• Participate in firefighting, rescue and EMS as directed by officers.
• Provide excellent customer service to residents and visitors.
• Perform administrative and station duties as directed by officers.
• Relate activities during the tour to relief personnel.
