Job summary

City of Huron seeks a qualified firefighter/paramedic to respond to emergencies, operate and maintain rescue equipment, and perform station duties. The role requires certification maintenance and the ability to inspect facilities for compliance with Fire Code and Ohio Revised Code.

The position reports to department leadership, may involve urban health and safety outreach, and requires strong teamwork, communication, and physical fitness through rigorous daily activity.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 256 hours firefighting training plus 2-year paramedic and firefighter level 2.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Fire Science preferred.
  • Certification as Paramedic and other required state certifications must be maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Responds to emergencies and preserves life and property.
  • Operates fire and rescue apparatus and maintains equipment.
  • Maintains station, records, and orders necessary materials.
  • Inspects buildings for unsafe conditions per Fire Code and Ohio Revised Code.
  • Attends and coordinates training activities and maintains certifications.
  • Engages with community groups for public safety education and outreach.
