Job summary

The Village of Greendale seeks qualified candidates for a Firefighter/Paramedic to provide fire suppression, EMS, inspections and station maintenance. The role is a 56-hour workweek with 24-hour shifts, and includes a probationary period of 18 months.

Career development includes Wisconsin Fire Inspector I, Firefighter II, and Driver/Operator certifications with training and advancement opportunities under the Local 1777 CBA wage and vacation schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires U.S. citizenship or eligible to work in the U.S.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to obtain a Wisconsin driver’s license
• Must pass medical examination and background checks
• CPAT completion is required as part of the process
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

• Responds to alarms and conducts firefighting operations as needed.
• Operates and maintains all fire department vehicles and equipment.
• Provides EMS care as EMT-Paramedic or Basic per certification.
• Prepares written reports under supervision and maintains records.
• Attends training exercises and department classes.
• Performs fire inspections in various occupancies within the village.
• Assists as Driver/Operator for apparatus and pump operations.
• Maintains cleanliness and readiness of fire stations and equipment.
• Participates in public fire safety demonstrations and CPR training.
