The Vallejo Fire Department is conducting a recruitment to fill full-time Firefighter/Paramedic positions. The list established may be used to fill future vacancies, including part-time, limited term, and temporary roles, for up to one year.
The department employs 90 staff across divisions: Administration, Suppression, Training, and Fire Prevention. It handles over 18,500 calls annually, with two active engine companies.
Vallejo, with approximately 121,000 residents, is a diverse waterfront city located between San Francisco and Sacramento, offering cultural, recreational, and historical attractions.
The department seeks motivated candidates on the statewide eligibility list, possessing CPR, CPAT, ACLS, PALS/PEPP, PHTLS/BTLS/ITLS certifications, and possibly an EMT-Paramedic license. Candidates will undergo a fire training academy, transitioning from a 40-hour to a 56.3-hour work week upon completion.
Knowledge of emergency medical care principles, laws, and physics; ability to learn firefighting techniques, operate under pressure, and establish cooperative relationships. Must meet physical and certification requirements prior to employment.
