Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue is seeking qualified firefighter paramedics to join a team delivering emergency medical services and fire suppression. You will respond to alarms, provide ALS on scenes, document incident reports, and maintain Oregon paramedic certification.
Candidates must have a valid paramedic license/NR cert, CPAT readiness, and a current driver’s license. This role offers a path to academy start dates and ongoing training in a dynamic community setting.

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue is establishing an eligibility list for future firefighter paramedic openings, with a firefighter academy anticipated to start on February 1, 2027.

The essential functions of the Firefighter position include, but are not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:Responds to alarms; performs all necessary duties as a firefighter, including, but not limited to, hose line operations, fire pump operation, operation of heavy equipment (including hydraulic rescue tools), functions with hand tools necessary in fire suppression including walking on pitched roofs and cutting holes in roofs and/or walls using power or hand tools, life safety activities, rescue operations including forcible entry, property conservation operations, clean-up projects, and all other activities as required.
The monthly salary range within a step system for this position is $7,250.75 - $10,319.25 per month. Per the collective bargaining agreement, the starting pay will be $7,250.75 per month.

Candidates must have an unexpired passing score on the FireTEAM test administered by National Testing Network by the application close date and have a passing score on the Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) taken since March 21, 2025. A CPAT certification will be accepted from any organization authorized and licensed by the IAFF and IAFC. We will accept a passing CPAT until September 21, 2026.
We understand the cost of the CPAT can be a burden for some candidates. We partner with the National Testing Network (NTN) to provide a fee waiver program for those who cannot afford the CPAT testing fee. There are a limited number of waivers available for those who qualify. The CPAT waiver request form with instructions is available here.

Must effectively perform essential job functions under stressful physical and mental conditions. Must meet National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards for health and fitness.

We anticipate conducting a February 1, 2027 academy and will invite candidates from the eligible list to an onsite interview, in accordance with Civil Service rules.
