Job summary

The Town of Acton Fire Department seeks a Firefighter/Paramedic to join a professional Public Safety Team at a new North Acton station. This full-time role covers 42 hours per week, focusing on fire suppression, prevention, advanced life support EMS, rescue, and related duties.

Starting pay is $80,203.33 annually (base $73,581.04 plus a 9% EMT-P stipend). Benefits include a $900 uniform allowance, health/dental/vision insurance, paid vacation, personal and sick time, holiday pay, and Middlesex

Qualifications

• Massachusetts Paramedic Certification, ACLS, CPR, PALS, Driver’s License and minimum of GED.

Responsibilities

• Assists in rescue and other emergency and non-emergency duties.

This is a 42 hour/week position responsible for fire suppression, fire prevention and education, advanced life support emergency medical care, rescue and other emergency and non-emergency duties. The Town of Acton Fire Department offers rotating overtime, an educational stipend, paid vacation (accrual system), personal and sick time, contractual holiday pay, a $900 annual uniform allowance and more!

General Duties and Responsibilities: Responds to fire alarms, medical emergencies, and other calls to protect life and property; participates in fire prevention, training, station and equipment maintenance activities; receives general supervision from higher level supervisory and management staff and exercises functional and technical supervision over assigned staff. Candidates must be able to pass the Massachusetts Physical Ability Test (PAT) for Firefighters. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Massachusetts Paramedic Certification, ACLS, CPR, PALS, Driver’s License and minimum of GED.

Special Requirements: Firefighting and rescue techniques, methods and practices. Advanced emergency medical procedures and patient assessment techniques. Arithmetic computations and formulas. Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation. Computer applications involving word processing, data entry and/or standard report generation. Techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socioeconomic, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, often in situations which may be stressful.
