Job summary

Laurens County in South Carolina seeks a dedicated firefighter to join its emergency response network. You will operate advanced fire apparatus, lead volunteer personnel, and ensure readiness for any incident.

Responsibilities include fire suppression, HazMat, and rescue operations, plus fire prevention and detector installation for the elderly and disabled. Requires 2–3 years in fire service, high school diploma or GED, and SC Driver's License.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience: 2 to 3 years of fire service or fire training, or an equivalent mix of training and experience.
• Skill highlights: heavy physical labor (up to 100 lbs), NFPA codes familiarity, fire science terminology, thermal imaging cameras.
• Licenses & Certifications: Firefighter 1, Hazmat Ops, Pump Ops 1, EVDT or equivalent; SC Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Emergency Response & Command: Drive and operate fire apparatus at scenes, assuming command when necessary and performing fire suppression, hazmat, and rescue.
• Readiness & Maintenance: Maintain stations, grounds, and equipment in readiness; test hydrants and inspect tools.
• Community Safety & Education: Participate in fire prevention and safety education; perform inspections and assist with installing detectors.
