Job summary

The City of Rock Hill is seeking a Firefighter to respond to fires, medical calls, hazmat incidents, rescues and auto extrications. The role requires high school graduation or GED with fire service training and relevant certifications, including EMT and CPR, NFPA Firefighter I & II, and Hazmat Technician.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED with related fire service coursework.
• Ability to obtain South Carolina Class E Driver’s License.
• EMT and CPR certifications required or pursued.
• NFPA Firefighter I & II, Hazmat Technician mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Trains for and performs firefighting and life rescue duties to protect life and property.
• Ventilates burning buildings and removes people from danger; provides first aid.
• Cleans and maintains fire station, apparatus and grounds.
• Responds to medical emergencies, vehicle accidents and hazmat incidents.
• Performs fire suppression, auto extrication, high angle rope and confined space rescues.
• Attends training to maintain required certifications and fitness; prepares incident reports.
