Job summary

The employee will handle equipment, maintenance, training and incident response under supervision. Base pay ranges from $49,701 to $76,978 per year for this non-exempt, full-time position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 21 years of age.
• 2 years of BLS field EMS experience preferred.
• Virginia Emergency Medical Technician required.
• Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (minimum class 2) required.
• Virginia Dept of Fire Programs Firefighter I or NFPA 1001 equivalent required (within 1 year).
• Must pass a comprehensive physical examination including drug, sight, and hearing tests.
• Must be able to perform all fire and EMS physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Responds to incidents requiring firefighting, emergency medical care, specialized rescue and hazardous materials emergencies.
• Operates fire apparatus and emergency medical vehicles and supports determination of necessary personnel and equipment.
• Performs rescues and administers basic life support according to protocols.
• Maintains records and prepares reports in a thorough and timely fashion.
• Keeps up training and certifications; ensures equipment readiness and safety compliance.
