Job summary

Obsolete Site in Leavenworth, KS seeks a Firefighter for GS-04/05/06 levels. You will respond to fire alarms, operate fire apparatus, control and extinguish fires, and respond on site to accidents and medical emergencies.

This position requires physical fitness, background checks, licenses, and certifications such as Firefighter I/II, HAZMAT operations, EMT certification, and willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and TDY up to 5%.

Qualifications

• Specialized experience includes controlling or extinguishing fires as part of a fire department or brigade.
• Education: two years of education above high school in fire-related field or combination with experience.
• Combination of Education and Experience may be used to qualify if the computed percentage is at least 100%.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire alarms and emergencies on site.
• Operate pumpers or other emergency vehicles using equipment driver/operator skills.
• Control and extinguish fires and perform rescue operations as needed.
• Respond on site to accidents with injuries or illnesses and provide assistance.
