Job summary

Copperas Cove Fire Department is seeking a dedicated firefighter to protect life and property through firefighting, rescue, EMS, and prevention duties. The role requires strong teamwork, physical stamina, and a commitment to ongoing training and certification maintenance.

Applicants must hold a valid Texas Class B license, basic firefighter certification, and EMT certification with the ability to enroll in paramedic programs if not already certified.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Texas Driver's Class B license without suspension/ revocation within six months.
• Texas Commission on Fire Protection Basic Structural Firefighter certification.
• DSHS EMT-Basic/Intermediate/Paramedic certification required.
• Paramedic certification/license within 1 year if not already obtained.

Responsibilities

• Perform firefighting activities: drive apparatus, operate pumps, lay hose, extinguish fires.
• Provide emergency medical aid and rescue as required.
• Participate in fire drills and training for certifications and advanced skills.
• Inspect buildings and hydrants as part of fire prevention programs.
• Maintain and repair fire equipment and facilities; perform facility upkeep.
