Job summary

Eddy County seeks a Firefighter/EMT in New Mexico. The role begins as an uncertified firefighter who must complete a rigorous fire academy and obtain essential certifications (Hazardous Materials Operations, NFPA 1583, Firefighter I/II, NWCG S-130/190/L-180, NIMS, EMS, CPR).

After academy completion, the candidate will work toward National Registry testing with up to three attempts, then be assigned to a shift and continue training and emergencies response.

Qualifications

• Must pass NFPA 1583 physical and yearly rechecks.
• Must complete a rigorous fire academy within the time set by the Fire Chief.
• Upon academy completion, achieve NFPA and EMS certifications as listed.
• Obtain National Registry test pass opportunities after EMS training.

Responsibilities

• Attend training and respond to emergencies while on shift.
• Perform apparatus and facility checks and stock equipment.
• Maintain equipment and perform duties assigned by Fire Chief or designee.
• Progress through certification path to become a certified firefighter.
