Job summary

The City of Tomball is seeking a Firefighter to perform fire suppression, prevention, public education and rescue activities, and provide first aid in emergencies. This testing process will establish an eligibility list for full-time and part-time positions (good for 1 year with extension).

Reports To: Fire Chief. Requires valid Fire Fighter certification, CPR/AED, NIMS 100/200/700/800, EMT certification, and a Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

Must possess a Basic (or higher) Fire Fighter certification by Texas Commission on Fire Protection or a Firefighter I and II IFSAC Seal.
Current CPR/AED certification.
Must have completed NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800.
Must possess and maintain EMT certification or higher.
Shall possess a valid Class C Texas driver’s license with intent to obtain Class B within 1 year.

Responsibilities

Works shift schedules including weekends, holidays, and extended hours in emergency, disaster or other situations.
Operates equipment and vehicles in fire suppression and prevention duties.
Deploys and operates hoses and pumping apparatus; directs water streams.
Performs search and rescue, including swift water rescue with/without boats.
Administers first aid and EMS as per EMT/Paramedic authorization.
