Job summary

Firestorm Wildland Fire Suppression is seeking a Firefighter I to perform initial and extended attack fire suppression, support prescribed fires, patrol areas, and contribute to wildfire project work.

This role requires completing S-131/S-133, FFT1 task book, RT-130 refresher, and passing the pack test; you will gain hands-on experience and training across diverse incident types with crews ranging 3 to 20.

Qualifications

  • Must complete S-131/S-133 training.
  • FFT1 task book issued after S-131/S-133.
  • Annual Fireline Safety Refresher (RT-130) before next season.
  • Pass work capacity fitness test (pack test) before next season.
  • FFT1 Trainee must complete 3 training incidents totaling at least 15 operational periods; 10 assignments on Type 3, 2, or 1 type incidents.

Responsibilities

  • Initial and extended attack fire suppression.
  • Support prescribed fires.
  • Patrol assigned areas.
  • Participate in project work related to wildfire operations.

Job description

Job Summary:This is an exciting opportunity that combines hands-on work experience and skills training. As a Firefighter I you will be used for initial and extended attack fire suppression, support of prescribed fires, patrolling, and project work. Crewsrange in size from three to 20 firefighters and work with specialized firefighting equipment and perform many strenuous activities such as – mobile attack with engines, hose lay, construction of fireline with hand tools, burnout operations,and mopping up hotspots.

Certifications Required:
  • - Complete S-131/S-133.
  • - FFT1 task book is issued following S-131/S-133 training making the firefighter an FFT1 Trainee.
  • - Complete Annual Fireline Safety Refresher (RT-130) training prior to next season.
  • - Pass work capacity fitness test (pack test) prior to next season.
  • - As an FFT1 Trainee, work on at least 3 training incidents totaling at least 15 operational periods while on wildfire incidents and complete the FFT1 task book. 10 of these assignments on type 3, 2, or 1 type incidents. This meets requirementfor satisfactory position performance as an FFT1- Become certified as an FFT1.
