• Firefighters must pass the annual Individual Physical Ability Test (IPAT).
• Graduation from high school or GED, or equivalent education, experience, and training acceptable to the hiring authority.
• Possess or obtain a valid driver's license before hiring.
• Be aged 21-44 at the time of the civil service examination.
• Vision must be correctable to at least 20/30 in each eye.
• Must be a nonsmoker.
• Pass all phases of the hiring process as per Civil Service Board rules.
• Obtain or have within one year of hire: National Registry or South Dakota EMT certification.
