About the position
The St. Louis Park Fire Department is now accepting applications for the position of Firefighter to create an eligibility list to fill vacancies that may arise. Responsible for protecting life and property from fire hazards and other emergencies in the City of St. Louis Park and surrounding communities.

Tentative interview timeline:
Final list of candidates will be presented to and certified by the Fire Civil Service Commission and will be used for hiring for up to two years.
The role involves responding to fire alarms and emergency calls, extinguishing fires, rescuing individuals, conducting fire prevention inspections, maintaining equipment, attending training sessions, and responding to medical emergencies. Candidates must work under supervision, act independently in emergencies, and demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and respect for diversity.
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, Firefighter II certification, Hazardous Materials Responder certification, current EMT/AEMT/Paramedic certification, and ability to pass background, drug, physical, psychological, and physical ability tests. Additional preferred qualifications include experience in firefighting, higher education, multilingual skills, paramedic certification, Class B driver’s license, and specialized courses.
