Job summary

US Fire Pump in Holden, LA is seeking a dependable Fire Truck Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team. This role focuses on modifying truck chassis and assembling custom fire trucks, not diesel engine repair or routine automotive service work.

The ideal candidate is motivated, takes pride in quality workmanship, and can be counted on daily. You don’t need to be a diesel mechanic, but you should be mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and able to work with others to build reliable

Qualifications

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand how mechanical assemblies function.
  • Comfortable using common hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure.
  • Basic understanding of PTO-driven systems and truck drivetrain components is preferred.
  • Ability to follow drawings, instructions, and assembly procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Modify commercial and custom fire truck chassis to prepare them for fire apparatus installation.
  • Install mechanical components, brackets, mounts, pumps, driveline components, and other equipment according to drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform chassis alterations, drilling, cutting, grinding, and component installation.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, impacts, drills, and other shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Measure accurately using tape measures, rulers, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Understand how mechanical systems and components fit and function together during assembly.
  • Assist with fabrication and fitting of steel components as needed.
  • Work closely with welders, electricians, pump technicians, and other production team members to complete high-quality fire apparatus.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Fire Truck Assembly Technician to join our fire apparatus manufacturing team. This position focuses on modifying truck chassis and assembling custom fire trucks, not necessarily diesel engine repair or routine automotive service work.

You don’t need to be a diesel mechanic, but you should be mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and able to work as part of a team to build reliable fire trucks that serve communities across the country.

Preferred Experience


  • Welding or carbon steel fabrication experience.

  • Experience modifying truck chassis, trailers, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment, or industrial machinery.

  • Experience with mechanical assembly in a manufacturing environment.

  • Familiarity with hydraulic, pneumatic, or driveline systems.
