Job summary

Antelope Valley College is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support Fire Technology programs in the classroom, lab, and field training under the Dean of Allied Health, Kinesiology, and Public Safety. Responsibilities include instructional support, clerical duties, equipment management, and student mentorship.

This role helps ensure safety and operational efficiency, maintains records, and coordinates logistics for drills and field exercises.

Qualifications

• Any combination equivalent to college-level coursework in fire technology or related field plus one year of experience in fire service training or instruction.
• Ability to assist with classroom, lab, and field activities and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Assist students in classroom, lab, and field training activities, including skill stations and live fire burns.
• Assist in administration of projects and preparation of skill demonstrations.
• Support on- and off-campus lab exercises under instructor facilitation.
• Update and maintain attendance records per procedures.
• Assist with routine reports, training documentation, and supply orders.
• Assist students with tools, PPE, and safety practices.
