Job summary

City of Minnetonka, MN seeks a Firefighter Technician to protect life and property through rapid emergency response, rescue, and firefighting operations. The role blends on-call emergency duties with inspection and maintenance of department assets, plus participation in community outreach.

Shifts include a 56-hour week (Firefighter/Driver-Operator) and a 40-hour week (Technician). Training, records management, and coordination with vendors are essential parts of the role.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent is required.
• IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter II certification by date of hire.
• EMT certification or higher with OEMS certification by date of hire.
• Hazardous Materials Operations certification by date of hire.
• Minnesota firefighter license by date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls quickly with proper PPE to provide fire suppression, rescue, hazmat, and EMS assistance.
• Maintains and operates fire department apparatus, equipment and facilities.
• Assists with training to maintain fire, rescue, and medical skills.
• Organizes and maintains records of inspection and maintenance activities.
• Coordinates inspections by outside vendors and stock maintenance.
• Supports fire prevention activities and community outreach.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent

IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter II certification

Emergency Medical Technician certification or higher

IFSAC or Pro Board Hazardous Materials Operations certification

Minnesota firefighter license by date of hire
