Johnson Controls is seeking a District Operations leader to manage the Electronic Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression delivery process, ensuring high customer satisfaction and efficient operations. You will oversee project engineering, CAD, installation, and coordination with customers and headquarters on a daily basis.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of district operation experience.

What You Will Do

The primary function of this position is to manage the Electronic Fire Alarm and Fire Suppression delivery process, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction while enhancing operational efficiencies, controlling costs within the district and meeting corporate financial goals. This position will lead project engineering, project management, order entry, installation and technical installation support.

SCOPE: The scope of this position is to interact with all employees within the district and direct the activities of project engineering, CAD operations and the installation group as well as interacting with headquarters and the customer on a day‑to‑day basis.

IMPACT: This position has direct impact on the profitability of the district, quality of performance, the company’s image and reputation as well as market share for the assigned territory.

How You Will Do It
  • CUSTOMER happiness: Coordinate with sales to analyze customer requirements and contractual obligations, figuring out the best possible JCI application. Responsible for carrying out the solution for total customer satisfaction, this includes maintaining effective two‑way communication with the customer from the initial order point to the warranty period.
  • FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for carrying out the highest quality delivery at the lowest possible cost. Responsible for operating within an approved financial plan, which includes direct costs, indirect costs, accounts receivable and profitability.
  • OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY: Supervise the support activity associated with the submittal process, engineering, technical support, CAD operations, installation schematics, equipment delivery, outside purchasing, scheduling, labor planning and business issues, such as bonds, insurance and approvals. Work with service department to insure seamless project turnover.
  • INSTALLATION RESPONSIBILITY: Lead all installation requirements including material purchasing, project scheduling, with fiscal responsibility, installing through JCI/ SimplexGrinnell installer or subcontractor management in accordance with company policy in a cost‑efficient manner. Lead the technical installation support activity including programming and operating systems according to customer specifications and applicable code requirements.
  • PRODUCTIVITY IMPROVEMENT: Ensure that effective performance measurements are assigned and employees are motivated to achieve and exceed objectives in a professional, timely and quality manner. Coordinate with and support the sales representatives in order to better serve the customer, grow the business and ultimately increase the sales volume per sales representative.
  • PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT: Hire, transfer, terminate or affect other personnel actions for subordinate employees. Set goals and objectives for subordinates, communicate expectations to employees, and periodically review subordinate’s performance. Identify areas of improvement and implement vital development and training programs or other appropriate actions. Responsible for assisting in meeting equal employment opportunity / affirmative action program goals and objectives, and abide by Federal, State and local laws and regulations, as well as company policies and programs. Maintain and enhance a positive and supportive work environment, which eliminates the causes and/or perceived need for outside third‑party intervention.
  • SAFETY COMPLIANCE: Accountability for employee and office compliance with corporate safety programs. Responsible for ensuring that employee safety training is thorough, complete, and up to date within tables, and implements safety recommendations and corrective actions in a timely manner. Identifies safety hazards and issues and advises corporate safety office for recommendations and corrective actions.

What we look for
Required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in district operation activities and proven experience preferred.
  • A Bachelor's degree preferably in a business or engineering field.
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Preferred
  • NICET Level II Certification.
  • Good interpersonal skills, along with effective writing, speaking and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated management/leadership abilities to include training, team building, presentation and negotiation skills, branch administration and effective interaction with customer/company management.
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state and federal codes required.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows, Excel, and other Microsoft products.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100,100 - $135,000
(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
