Job summary

State Fire Sales & Svc is seeking a Fire Suppression Technician to inspect, maintain, and service heavy equipment fire suppression systems, primarily in mining environments. Experience preferred, with training available for the right candidate.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, welding/maintenance background, and the ability to work independently. A valid driver’s license, willingness to travel regionally, and the ability to pass background and drug screening are essential.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and service fire suppression systems in heavy equipment.
• Inspect/replace tanks, cartridges, and control batteries.
• Perform semi-annual maintenance on hoses, lines, nozzles, and loops.
• Maintain data logs and unit information across sites.
• Conduct actuator testing and ensure proper functionality.

About The Role

As a Fire Suppression Technician, you will inspect, maintain, and service heavy equipment fire suppression systems—primarily in the mining industry. Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and service dry chemical, clean agent, and special hazard fire suppression systems
• Inspect and replace fire suppression tanks, cartridges, and control unit batteries
• Perform semi-annual system maintenance, including checking hoses, discharge lines, nozzles, and detection loops
• Maintain data logs and control unit information
• Conduct electronic and manual actuator testing to ensure proper functionality
• Perform annual extinguisher inspections and monthly fire pump runs
• Travel regionally, with overnight stays required (up to a week at a time)
• Communicate daily with site planners and use company time-tracking and field service apps
