Job summary

Manatal in Tempe, AZ is seeking an experienced Life Safety Inspection & Repair Technician to perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on fire suppression systems in commercial and industrial settings.

You will work hands-on, in the field, with emphasis on code compliance, accuracy in reporting, and strong customer service while supporting on-call rotations and after-hours service as needed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in fire life safety or related field.
  • Hands-on experience testing and servicing pre‑action, dry, wet, and fire pump systems.
  • Strong computer skills to complete detailed inspection reports and service documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work in various physical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, maintain, and repair fire suppression systems including wet, dry, pre‑action, and fire pump systems.
  • Perform routine inspections in accordance with local, state, and national fire codes and safety standards.
  • Install and commission new fire protection equipment and system components.
  • Complete system testing and verification to ensure proper operation and compliance.
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, deficiency notices, and compliance documentation.
  • Communicate inspection findings, repair recommendations, and system status to customers and management.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and perform urgent repairs as needed.
  • Coordinate with contractors, building managers, inspectors, and other trades on service and installation activities.
  • Identify code violations and recommend corrective actions to maintain compliance.
  • Stay current with evolving fire codes, manufacturer updates, and industry best practices including AHJ certifications.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation, after‑hours service, and scheduled preventative maintenance programs.
  • Support annual inspections and assist with regulatory audits or fire marshal reviews.

Position Overview

Required Qualifications

  • Must pass background check and drug screen
