Job summary

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety is seeking a skilled technician to install, inspect, and maintain fire sprinkler systems across commercial and residential sites. You will perform preventative maintenance, address deficiencies, and prepare accurate inspection reports.

The role requires experience with wet, dry and pre‑action systems, strong troubleshooting abilities, and a clean driving record. You will work both independently and in teams, following safety procedures and company guidelines.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience with fire sprinkler systems.
  • Experience with commercial and residential systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of fire safety.
  • Knowledge of codes and regulations related to the work.
  • Ability to review official documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ability to act in a lead capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on sprinkler fire suppression systems.
  • Service and inspect wet, dry and pre‑action fire suppression systems.
  • Install, maintain, repair or replace fire sprinkler equipment and systems per codes and standards.
  • Test and service alarm systems already in place.
  • Perform inspections to ensure alarms are installed according to code.
  • Complete detailed inspection reports documenting issues and results promptly.
  • Operate warehouse equipment and vehicles safely for loading/unloading.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and maintain a safe workspace.

Job description

Overview

This position is responsible for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of fire sprinkler systems. Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, and performing system checks, assisting in identifying system deficiencies, and preparing accurate and timely inspection reports.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on sprinkler fire suppression systems.
  • Service and inspect wet, dry and pre‑action fire suppression systems.
  • Install, maintain, repair or replace fire sprinkler equipment and systems in strict accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Service wet‑based fire sprinkler systems.
  • Interact with customers in a mature and professional manner.
  • Install or upgrade fire sprinklers in commercial and residential buildings.
  • Test and repair alarm systems already in place.
  • Perform inspections to ensure alarms are installed according to code.
  • Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues and reporting results of work completed in an accurate, timely manner.
  • Protect and maintain company equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including vehicles, in a way that facilitates the loading and unloading of the truck while observing all safety regulations.
  • Work in a safe manner following company safety procedures.
  • Respond to emergency service calls.
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace.
  • Follow directions and work independently when needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience with fire sprinkler systems.
  • Experience with commercial and residential systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team as well as independently.
  • Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Flexible with scheduling, including evening, weekend and/or out‑of‑town assignments.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of fire safety.
  • Knowledge of codes and regulations related to the work.
  • Ability to review official documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ability to act in a lead capacity.
  • Ability to recognize and report deviations through inspection programs.
  • Ability to interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to use or repair small/light equipment, such as power tools, ladders, medium equipment and machinery.
Other Duties
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, and Company Safety Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements

While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and is occasionally required to lift and/or move heavy objects. The job also requires balancing, climbing, grasping, hearing, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and visual acuity.
