Johnson Controls in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Service Technician to service commercial, industrial, and residential sprinkler systems. You will receive calls, diagnose issues, and perform repairs while maintaining safety and high service standards.

The role requires reading blueprints, traveling to sites, lifting up to 70 lbs, and occasional weekends. NICET/backflow certifications are a plus; a valid driver’s license is required; on-call rotation included.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of documented experience in fire sprinkler service and repair.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and mobile apps.
• Ability to service all water-based fire protection systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Willing to work flexible hours including weekends.
• Maintain truck inventory; adhere to safety guidelines.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Able to perform physical labor up to 70 lbs and climb ladders.
• Must follow safety requirements and instructions.

Contact customer representative and ascertain equipment/systems problems. Perform service and repairs on sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial and residential applications. These include but are not limited to wet (steel, copper and CPVC), dry, pre-action, deluge and fire pumps. **How you will do it*** Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications software/systems, programs, schematics and operational product manuals.* Demonstrate a high level of customer service, with strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.* Must have the ability to work alone.* Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices and bulletins, modification notices, etc. in order to diagnose and repair equipment. **What we look for** **Required*** 3-5 years of documented experience in Fire Sprinkler industry performing service and repair to Sprinkler* Have computer/phone skills - Word, Excel, Outlook and mobile apps and functions* Be able to perform service work on all water-based fire protection systems* High School Diploma or equivalent required* Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements* Must maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs* Must adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times* Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements* Follow verbal and written instructions* Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools weighing up to 70 lbs.* Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.* Must be able to follow, read and understand all safety requirement of the company and the customer* This role does require an on-call rotation **Preferred*** NICET certification is a plus* Backflow certification is a plus* Fire pump experience a plus HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.05 - 40.00 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
