Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Inspector 2 in Livermore, CA. The role conducts inspections, testing and preventive maintenance on fire sprinkler systems, documenting deficiencies and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Ideal candidates hold NICET certifications or are working toward them, have a High School Diploma, and can obtain required licenses. Travel and physical tasks are involved as part of routine duties.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • NICET I certification or ability to obtain within 8 months of hire.
  • NICET II certification or ability to obtain within 24 months of hire.
  • Able to obtain and retain any licenses required by National, State and Local codes.
  • Experience reading blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications and manuals.
  • Physically capable of carrying and moving equipment up to 50–70 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Inspectors are responsible for routine inspections, testing, service and preventive maintenance on Life Safety product lines.
  • Meet customer expectations while performing quality inspections and document deficiencies.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times.
  • Complete service verifications with proper coding via devices like laptops or smartphones.
  • Follow a highly structured inspection schedule and perform minor repairs and programming changes.
  • Complete assigned inspections on time and assist foreman with sprinkler system installations.
  • Work in challenging positions (ladders, scaffolding, high lift) and be willing to travel.

Description

Inspectorsare responsible forconducting routine inspections, testing, service, and preventative maintenance on Electrical, Sprinkler or Suppression life safety product lines as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ product lines

How you will do it
  • Responsible for meeting customer expectations while performing quality inspections
  • Accurately discern and document deficiencies found during an inspection
  • Professionallyrepresent the company at all times
  • Complete Service Acknowledgement/inspections with proper coding through communicating devices, such as laptop computers, smartphones, and/or hardcopy
  • Follow andmaintaina highly structured inspection schedule
  • Make minor repairs and programming changes to systems being inspected.
  • Complete assigned inspections on time
  • Perform other duties as directed
  • Carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs and be capable of performing physical labor
  • Assistforemanin the installation of wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems
  • Perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment
  • Be enrolled in Grinnell's approved Apprenticeship Program,maintainingall requirements of the Apprenticeship Standards
  • Have a positive attitude and the ability to learn quickly

  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications,programsschematics and operational/product manuals.
  • Experience with hand tools and multi-meter usage.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficultpositionsuch as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including on-call rotation, nights, and weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Willingto travel out of town.
  • Demonstratea high levelof customer service.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, andfollow safety guidelines and procedures at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, andan abilityto learn quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background and drug test.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $25.57 - $35.19 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience,knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with marketdata.)
