Due to continued growth, we are actively seeking candidates with previous experience as a Fire Sprinkler Fitter. This position is located in the Bangor, ME area. As a Fire Sprinkler Fitter, you will be responsible for installing integrated overhead piping systems for fire suppression, as well as maintaining and repairing various fire sprinkler systems and components. While most work involves automatic sprinkler systems, you will also install and service other fire protection systems such as standpipes, clean agent, and foam systems.

Responsibilities:

1. Have comprehensive knowledge of applicable NFPA codes, especially NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14, and 20.
2. Communicate with owners, superintendents, and project managers regarding schedules and project requirements.
3. Install overhead sprinkler piping, standpipe systems, risers, and specialty fire protection systems.
4. Install prefabricated piping according to fire protection drawings and standards.
5. Measure, cut, and thread or groove piping for modifications or non-prefabricated sections.
6. Install sprinkler heads as per drawings and code requirements.
7. Implement modifications due to project scope changes.
8. Manage and train fire sprinkler apprentices, if applicable.
9. Test new systems following NFPA standards and complete necessary documentation.
10. Instruct owners on system operation and maintenance.

Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of relevant codes and standards for installation, inspection, and maintenance.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience installing sprinkler systems.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Work at ceiling heights using ladders and lifts, sometimes up to 100 feet.
• Perform tasks indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including installing underground piping.
• Require physical stamina for climbing, bending, and carrying heavy pipes, in environments ranging from hot boiler rooms to unheated open spaces.
• Receive safety training to handle tools safely and reduce fall risks.
