Job summary

North American Fire Protection is seeking an experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer for our Fort Wayne, IN or Palm Coast, FL offices. You will lead design through coordination, fabrication and installation on complex projects nationwide, including storage and data center environments.

Requirements include 5+ years in fire sprinkler design, NICET Water-Based Systems Layout certification, and strong skills in Revit, AutoCAD, HydraCAD and AutoSPRINK. BIM coordination and field support are essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fire sprinkler design experience.
• NICET Water-Based Systems Layout certification is required, Level II+ preferred.
• BIM coordination and NFPA 13 knowledge.
• Hydraulic calculations experience.
• Construction-ready sprinkler drawings experience.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, HydraCAD, AutoSPRINK or similar software.
• Experience with commercial/industrial fire protection systems.
• Understanding of BIM coordination, fabrication and field constructability.
• Ability to manage responsibilities, deadlines and project priorities.
• Storage occupancies, ESFR, cold storage, etc. a major plus.

Responsibilities

• Developing accurate, code-compliant and constructible designs.
• Designing wet, dry, preaction, ESFR, storage and other water-based systems.
• Performing hydraulic calculations and selecting design criteria.
• Coordinating with BIM and other trades.
• Reviewing drawings, specs and project requirements.
• Identifying clashes and constructability issues early.
• Preparing stocklists, material takeoffs and fabrication info.
• Coordinating design releases with PM, Purchasing, Fabrication and Field Ops.
• Supporting foremen and field teams with technical input.
• Managing revisions, permit drawings, and as-built documentation.
• Owning the design schedule and flagging issues early.
