Job summary

El Paso County is seeking a Fire Safety and Wildfire Mitigation Project Manager to conduct land use reviews, address wildfire-related reviews, and approve mitigation plans for developments. The role requires strong communication as the primary contact on code requirements and ordinances for compliance. It is non-supervisory.

Annual hiring range is $105,000.00 - $110,000.00 with standard in‑person presence and a typical Monday–Friday schedule; position may be filled to meet department needs.

Qualifications

Knowledge of IFC/IBC and NFPA standards.
Ability to apply local, state and federal laws to planning and reviews.
Experience with wildfire mitigation and defensible space assessments.
Strong written and oral communication for coordinating with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Generates plan review comments and analyzes potential fire hazards.
Reviews land use and approves wildfire mitigation plans for developments.
Interprets and applies fire and life safety codes in design reviews.
Represents the county in wildfire-related partnerships and committees.
Provides technical assistance to county officials and partners.
