Job summary

General Dynamics – Bath Iron Works is seeking a Fire Safety Compliance Officer (FSCO) to lead fire safety procedures and audits across hull/area operations. You’ll enforce safety, conduct audits, and train mechanics on safe work practices while supporting production goals.

The role includes overseeing hot work, PPE, and safety programs, with BIW BOS reporting to FSCM. Requires BIW experience, supervisory skills, and ability to obtain security clearance.

Qualifications

• Requires BIW experience with shipyard operations (5+ years).
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills (MS Word) and data management.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance.
• Strong interpersonal communication across levels.

Responsibilities

• Maintain expertise in Hot Work, PPE, Safety Absolutes and related procedures.
• Perform Hot Work Audits and manage audit records.
• Enforce procedures and ensure management accountability for compliance.
• Oversee fire extinguishers inspections and placement.
• Coordinate safety audits and educate mechanics on safe work practices.
