Job summary

City of Farmington seeks an Emergency Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to repair and maintain fire and public safety vehicles at the MOC VM Shop. You will perform preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and coordinate with vendors for complex repairs.

The role requires ASE certifications in six fields or the ability to obtain them within 9 months, EVT certification, and on-call availability with a 30-minute on-site requirement. It is a regular/full-time position with daytime hours, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or GED; specialized mechanic training preferred.
• Eight years of related experience, or equivalent education/experience.
• Must hold ASE certification in six fields (T4, T5, T8, T3, T6, T2) or obtain within 9 months.
• EVT certification in F1 and F2, Level 1, or be able to pursue within 9 months.
• Valid driver’s license with good record; CDL or E endorsement required at hire.
• Must be on call 24/7 and report to Municipal Operations Center within 30 minutes of call.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintain emergency fire protection and public safety vehicles and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and oversee repairs on brakes, engines, electrical, fuel, hydraulic, transmissions, and related systems.
• Coordinate with outsourced maintenance and schedule recalls/upgrades.
• Maintain records and prepare maintenance reports.
• Work shifts including weekends and holidays; operate a service truck for field calls.
