Job summary

Total Safety in Texas is seeking a Fire Protection Technician apprentice to service and repair fire extinguishers, life-saving gear, and fire and gas detection systems. You’ll learn to document tasks, test equipment, and support shop and field operations in a safety‑driven environment.

Onshore and offshore exposure is possible; a High School diploma or GED is preferred, with Associate or technical training highly valued. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Ability to apply for and receive an Apprentice Permit (fire extinguishers) as required by State Fire Marshal.
• Ability to study for and pass ICC/NAFED Certification within six months.
• Associates degree, technical or military training strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Learn to service and repair, inspect, clean, reassemble, and test fire equipment including extinguishers and life-saving gear.
• Learn to rig up and use safety equipment such as retractable lifelines and harnesses.
• Learn to operate electronic safety systems including gas monitors and radios.
• Complete Total Safety and customer documentation in a timely and accurate manner, obtaining signatures for invoicing.
• Reassemble and test equipment per manufacturer specifications and record results.
• Maintain assigned vehicle and assist with stocking and loading equipment.
• Trained and certified to work onshore and offshore exploration and production.
• Assist others as needed.
