  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting fire safety training to groups; 2) Eliminating or reducing hazards where the expectancy and potential for severity is high; 3)Inspecting buildings for potential fire hazards (e.g. obstructed exits, presence of combustible materials, etc.); and 4) Adapting fire protection/prevention techniques to correct conditions or hazardous situations. NOTE: Experience must be fully supported in your resume to be considered for this position.

The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy until the freeze is lifted.

Physical Demands

Work involves lifting 10 lbs or more, travel off-shore islands via aircraft depending on the area of responsibility, standing for long periods, stooping, crawling, crouching, walking, climbing, standing on ladders, and functioning in enclosed or small spaces during inspections or investigations. The incumbent must maintain an appropriate state driver’s license to operate vehicles.

Work Environment

The work involves a mixture of office work and exposure to hazardous conditions such as high noise areas, oxygen-deficient/enriched atmospheres, hazardous material storage, spray painting, POL facilities, welding/cutting, weapons areas, high voltage electrical rooms, LOX areas, and construction sites. Safety and monitoring programs are in place, such as hearing conservation.
