Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) seeks a Fire Protection Field Engineer to ensure compliance with DOE/NFPA fire codes and standards. The FPFE reports to management and coordinates with the Hanford Fire Marshal and site safety personnel.

The role covers design review, hazard analyses, life-safety assessments, and oversight of external contractors working on H2C fire protection systems. This senior position requires strong regulatory knowledge and field experience at hazardous

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science or related field.
• NICET Level III or NICET Level IV certification.
• Six (6) years of directly related experience or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design and approve fire protection systems and equipment.
• Create, review, and approve Fire Hazards Analysis and assessments.
• Analyze life safety: codes, occupancy, egress.
• Oversee service provider work on H2C fire protection systems.
• Provide project oversight and act as interpretive authority.
• Review drawings for proper active/passive system config.
• Interface with Hanford Fire Marshal; perform DFM duties if qualified.
• Collaborate with nuclear safety to maintain safety analyses.
• Keep current knowledge of fire protection codes and practices.
• Implement programs to ensure safety compliance.
