Job summary

Constellation is seeking an engineer at Entry, Mid, or Senior level to support nuclear plant operations with advanced technical problem solving and regulatory acumen. You will act as a technical resource and make decisions within the Fire Protection program.

You will work as the FPPE station's technical authority, implementing and maintaining the Fire Protection Program in line with NFPA standards, fleet procedures, and NRC requirements. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Familiarity with industry codes and regulations relevant to fire protection.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare regular Program Health Reports/KPIs for Fire Protection and FLEX.
  • Maintain and update program documentation, including FPR, Safe Shutdown Analysis, and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and commitments.
  • Perform engineering evaluations, calculations, and reviews on fire barriers, detection, suppression, and safe‑shutdown features.
  • Review and approve design changes affecting fire protection systems or licensing basis.
  • Lead or support Fire Protection Inspections (NRC, NEIL, NOS), self‑assessments, OPEX/IR reviews, and audits.
  • Support fire protection issue evaluation and CAP investigations.
  • Participate in peer calls, industry committees (INPO, NEI, NFPA).

Expected Salary Range
  • Entry-Level: $87,000
  • Mid-Level: $92,700 - $114,000
  • Sr Level: $122,400 - $154,000
Primary Purpose Of Position

Performs advanced technical/engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations while acting as a resource and technical expert to engineers. Responsible for technical decisions. Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes and regulations.

Primary Duties And Accountabilities

The Fire Protection Program Engineer (FPPE) is the station’s technical authority responsible for implementing and maintaining the Fire Protection Program in accordance with regulatory requirements, fleet procedures, and NFPA standards.

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Engineer Level (Entry, Mid-level, Senior). Minimum qualifications vary by level:

  • Entry Level E01 Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Nuclear). Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties.
  • Mid-level E02 Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Nuclear) with 2 years of nuclear or related engineering experience. Maintain minimum access requirements or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties.
  • Senior E03 Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical or Nuclear) with 5 years of nuclear experience or related engineering experience. Maintain minimum access requirement or unescorted access requirements, as applicable, and favorable medical examination and/or testing in accordance with position duties.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer Registration.
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering programs, system ownership, or fire protection related functions.
  • Knowledge of NFPA codes, NRC regulatory requirements, and nuclear safety processes.
