Job summary

Coffman Engineers, a multi-disciplinary engineering firm, is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern for our Fulton, MD office. The role is in-person, with 3-4 days in the office and 1-2 days from home, offering a summer or winter term.

The ideal candidate is a full-time engineering student with interest in fire protection and able to commit to 32–40 hours per week during breaks. The position is not eligible for sponsorship and pays $24–$30 per hour.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student in an engineering program at a nationally recognized, accredited college.
• One year of required courses completed towards an undergraduate engineering degree (preferred).
• Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Fire Protection Engineering degree program or taking fire protection–specific courses as part of their engineering studies.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Ability to work up to 32 hours per week during the winter break (winter position) or up to 40 hours per week during the summer break (summer position).
• We are hiring multiple students to support each seasonal period separately: Winter Break: A 3‑week assignment from January 4–22; Summer Break: Full summer break assignment.
