Job summary

Coffman Engineers’ DC Metro office in Fulton, MD is seeking a Fire Protection Engineering Intern who is passionate about engineering excellence and hands-on experience. The ideal candidate is a full-time engineering student with at least one year of relevant coursework and a fire protection focus.

The internship supports winter and summer periods, with 3-4 days in the office and 1-2 days from home. Pay ranges from $24 to $30 per hour; this position is in-person and not eligible for sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Enrolled as a full-time student in an engineering program.
• One year of required courses completed towards an undergraduate engineering degree (preferred).
• Currently enrolled in a Fire Protection Engineering degree program or taking fire protection-specific courses.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Ability to work up to 32 hours per week during winter break or up to 40 hours per week during summer break; flexible to fit school schedules.

Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, and quality-oriented individual with an interest in engineering to join our team as aFire Protection Engineering Intern. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of post-secondary education in an accredited fire protection engineering program.

Qualifications

Eligibility Requirements:

• Enrolled as a full-time student in an engineering program at a nationally recognized, accredited college.
• One year of required courses completed towards an undergraduate engineering degree (preferred).
• Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Fire Protection Engineering degree program or taking fire protection-specific courses as part of their engineering studies.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail orientated and organized.
• Ability to work up to 32 hours per week during the winter break (winter position) or up to 40 hours per week during the summer break (summer position). Flexibility will be provided to accommodate individual school schedules and academic demands. We are hiring multiple students to support each seasonal period separately:
  • Winter Break: A 3 week assignment from January 4-22
  • Summer Break: Full summer break assignment

Hourly pay rate: $24 - $30/hour

Fulltime, inperson internship based in our Fulton, MD office. 3-4 days in office, 1-2 days work from home.
