Job summary

Jensen Hughes offers internship opportunities in our Fire Protection Engineering department across multiple locations in the United States. This program provides hands-on experience on life safety, fire protection, security, and mass notification for commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.

Interns work with engineers and consultants, developing drawings, analyses, and reports while gaining exposure to codes, standards, and professional practice.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering principles or construction technology and practices.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documentation and regulations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; report writing and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Develops, modifies, and/or reviews drawings of systems or components per established standards.
• Prepares plans, specifications, and inspection reports to ensure accuracy and professional practice.
• Assists in resolving design problems, including field investigations and coordination of design aspects.
• Identifies applicable codes and standards for inquiries.
• Performs basic building code analyses, egress analyses, and system reviews.
• Performs basic calculations such as egress sizing and sprinkler water supplies.
• Communicates effectively with project team members and clients.
