Job summary

Jensen Hughes is seeking engineering interns to join the Fire Protection Engineering department at multiple locations across the United States. You will support life safety, fire protection, security and mass notification on commercial, institutional, and industrial projects worldwide.

You will work under supervision to develop drawings, study codes, perform calculations, and assist in design tasks, gaining hands-on experience in a leading consulting firm with a focus on safety and resilience.

Qualifications

• Working towards a Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering from an accredited college or university
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles or construction technology and practices
• Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and regulations
• Intermediate-level written and oral communication skills for reports and presentations
• Solve practical problems with limited standardization
• Interpret instructions from various formats
• Self-starter with problem solving and reasoning
• Intermediate-level PC skills and multitasking

Responsibilities

• Develops, modifies, and/or reviews drawings of systems or components per standards
• Develops plans, specifications, and inspection reports for tasks
• Assists in resolving design problems, including field investigations
• Identifies applicable codes and standards for inquiries
• Conducts basic analyses such as building code and egress analyses
• Performs basic calculations (eg. egress size, sprinkler water supply)
• Communicates effectively with project team and clients
